Job Summary

The Project Analyst works independently and applies standard methods to the collection and analysis of data by scheduling, collecting, verifying and analyzing data. The Project Analyst role is accomplished through database extractions and reporting software to produce client satisfaction survey reports as well as ad hoc reports.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Maintain longitudinal databases for satisfaction surveys and quality assurance
  • Assist in the compilation of parts of major project reports and/or to compile reports for projects, analyze computer or other output; working with other staff; reviewing data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Create visual presentations that depict the data collected and analyzed to clarify project information described in reports and presentations by constructing tables, charts and graphs; explaining data in an understandable manner.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate presentation of project information.
  • Document purpose, methods, techniques, conclusions, and implementation of major projects.
  • Research and evaluate problem reports and requests to resolve specific project data and information issues by analyzing problems; identifying the impact of problems or requests; and recommending solutions.
  • Participate in project meetings to inform others by presenting information; providing documents; drafting and editing reports, letters, and other written materials.
  • Work independently yet function as part of a team sufficient to accomplish project objectives.
  • Analyze data sufficient to verify and identify problems such as inaccurate and incomplete data and suggest solutions.

Minimum requirements

Bachelor degree in mathematics, computer science or related field. 2+ years experience in database management and report development.

Abilities required

  • Advanced knowledge of SAS
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Comfort with large scale datasets as well as experienced at data importing and exporting between other software and SAS
  • Strong database knowledge preferred. Proficient with MySQL database, SQL language and database manipulations.

Physical and sensory requirements

Includes mobility, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, ability to talk and hear, ability to read and write, ability to communicate with personnel and customers, ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to communicate effectively with staff.

Responsibilities:

The database programmer is a key member of the team that supports the relational databases at SCHARP. The database programmer is responsible for developing, implementing and tuning data models based on SCHARP's business requirements and writing code to allow easy access to this data. S/he is also responsible for developing strategies for data synchronization, integrity and standardization, and for serving as a backup database administrator.

Major Duties:

  • Analyze and translate business requirements into data models.
  • Design, implement, test and document programs that interface with the relational database.
  • Develop and ensure proper usage of data modeling, naming & description standards.
  • Develop and apply strategies for data synchronization, update, and integrity.
  • Guide development teams in system database design.
  • Review and tuning of data model for performance improvement.
  • Serve as a third member of the database administration team. Responsibilities in this arena include tasks such as creating users and maintaining access control, checking backup scripts, and monitoring database functionality.
  • Other duties as required

The ideal candidate will poses the following qualifications:
  • Two years experience data modeling.
  • Three years experience with relational databases. Postgres and/or MS SqlServer preferred.
  • Experience with at least one of the following programming languages: perl, java, VBA, php
  • Experience analyzing the technical needs of an individual or group and researching and recommending solutions.
  • Self motivated learner.
  • Effective communication skills.

Technical Background on the opportunity:

Tools to facilitate this type of extraction in the past have been SQL, SAS (with an SQL interface) and RME (a SAS front end application.) This requires a good comfort level with data in a raw form rather than data which has been matched to code tables.

A lead analyst is a key member on Credit Risk Policy team leading analytical initiatives related to credit underwriting and business innovations. The position is responsible for driving the business analysis and business cases in support of the growth and profitability of a top national retailer private label and credit card portfolio with $5 billion in total receivables.

The individual will accomplish the following job functions:

  • Develop strategies for private label or credit card decisioning and line assignment strategies for a portfolio with more than 2 million accounts booked per year. Aid in the development of challenger underwriting decision logic, multiple account decision logic, and underwriting strategies for new populations.
  • Work with Finance team to evaluate the risk/return profile of the targeted populations and identify key performance drivers to meet the corporate established return requirements. Assist Finance team by providing loss forecast assumptions leveraging the historical performance and planned strategy changes for each targeted segment.
  • Drive the development of business solutions, including the use of new scores, data, models and technologies that will increase the profitability of new originated accounts.
  • Design and write mainframe and PC technical programs for statistical analysis of portfolio performance and monitoring. Leverage and optimize existing tracking systems to provide informative reporting to senior management and recommend new initiatives and strategy changes.
  • Communicate and document processes and analysis results. Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management and to various business groups, including Finance, Marketing and Compliance.

The candidates should have 2+ years of financial services industry experience. Candidates with exceptional track record from other industry in an analytical or consulting role will also be considered. The individual will need to show strong technical skills with proficiency in MS Excel, SAS or other comparable statistical/database programs or programming languages. He should also have strong presentation and communication skills. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, operations/engineering or equivalent is required. Masters in similar quantitative discipline preferred.

This is an opportunity to be a key player in identifying and quantifying strategic business opportunities and critically evaluating existing business activities. In the role you will be expected to leverage advanced statistical methods and analysis to assist in the forecasting of opportunities and the impact of current activities. The Click Quality responsibilities will involve projects to analyze web logs and use site traffic reporting tools to evaluate web traffic and statistics for very large data sets. You will improve overall click quality for RHDi and our clients. You will lead projects related to click quality automation and client awareness as well as client attrition and retention. You will interact with related departments including Engineering, Finance, Marketing and others to evaluate and improve the traffic to our internet properties.

    • Monitor and report on performance of new member signups flows

QUALIFICATIONS

Investment Data Analyst, Equity - T. Rowe Price (Balimore, MD)


Primary Purpose of the Position

Working independently and on teams and committees, this position is responsible for providing front office investment support for Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Traders. In addition, the incumbent must maintain good working relationships with Front Office Investment clients and TRPA staff. Works closely with quantitative analysts, portfolio managers, investment analysts, and traders to investigate, design, automate or enhance investment processes and applications and to ensure that Equity and Fixed Income systems, databases, internal workflows and vendors evolve to appropriately keep pace with internal and external reporting needs for core and analytic data at security, portfolio, product and sector levels.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Investigates new products/vendors to automate and streamline workflow and data processes for investment associates -Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Traders.
  • Works closely with quantitative analyst, portfolio managers, investment analyst, and traders to develop analytical systems/reports to be used by the investment associates for investment management/decision support. Takes the lead on coordinating and executing required systems testing for enhancements and upgrades; partners with TRPIT and HiNet developers to ensure complete, efficient connectivity between all relevant systems.
  • Designs, plans, and develops solutions that automate and streamline processes for Investment Associates. Can manage projects independently.
  • Seeks creative solutions to business problems. Investigates/researches integration of new products into/with full array of analytical systems (Vision, Market QA, Clarify, Wilshire Axioma, etc.) that assist the Investment process; provides system administration support for ancillary and primary analytical tools.
  • Manages large data sets and resolves research data issues. Ensures data integrity, maintains data quality, resolves data discrepancies and identifies "gold standard" sources of information. Networks with appropriate upstream and downstream customers, vendors, service teams and developers to ensure data errors are resolved and processes are revised in order to mitigate risk of repeat issues; may also represent Investment Staff by serving on committees and project teams (e.g., MIDR Data Policy Committee) for evolving data needs and reporting along with impacts of regulatory changes.

Qualifications
  • College degree and 4 yrs related work experience required
  • Financial Industry experience working with Equity or Fixed Income data
  • Detail oriented
  • Technical background / Strong design skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a minimally structured environment
  • Substantial technical or statistical programming skills, with demonstrable ability to employ those skills to solve complex modeling challenges in a limited time. Experience with Matlab and/or Splus is an advantage, as is knowledge of database management systems.
  • Ability to master complex tasks with minimal supervision

Experience with:
  • Object Oriented Programming/Design or Database architecture
